Plenty of silly costumes were on display as the Second Session of 2014 opened at Camp Susquehannock!
After an opening night meeting led by Co-Site Directors Win and Cannie Shafer, the Camps separated for ice-breaking activities designed to entertain both new and returning campers.
For the 109th time in history, campers from around the world traveled to the lands surrounding Tripp Lake in the Endless Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. After a long off-season and many weeks of on-site preparation, the Opening Day of 2014 finally arrive! Staff members welcomed both Grizzled and new campers to the Susquehannock Camps. The anticipation for the next three weeks was only eclipsed by wonderful weather that made the facilities look even more incredible.
After many joyous reunions and first encounters, both Camps offered pick-up activities for those campers who had prepared their beds for the Session. After a delicious dinner, Co-Site Directors Win and Cannie Shafer officially kicked off the summer by greeting all during a meeting on the grass outside the Main Lodge in the Boys Camp. The S4B and S4G staff members then introduced themselves and explained details about the singular Susquehannock experience. The respective Camps separated for their own individual opening day festivities and the fun continued!

After a memorable First Session and brief yet fun Midseason (photos forthcoming), the staff prepared for a large batch of new arrivals on July 18th.
The late morning and afternoon was spent checking in with the Main Office and Infirmary and moving into cabins. Many people shared the observation that they never had seen so many cars at once on the hilltop!

On Monday evening, the girls of Susquehannock took part in Cabin Skits which is always a memorable ice breaker activity at the beginning of the session!

The excitement of the day was punctuated by wonderful weather that made the moving-in process that much more delightful.

Coming on the heels of a memorable First Session, our Second Session campers arrived on July 19th and immediately started having fun as old friends were rekindled and new ones forged.

We were fortunate to have incredible weather that provided a fitting backdrop as our staff welcomed your child to Camp. Our 2011 First Session opened with beautiful sunshine, happy reunions, new arrivals and of course, lots of fun! After moving into cabins, campers jumped right into the games and visited Tripp Lake for the first of many times this summer.
With a delicious dinner consumed, Directors Win and Cannie Shafer, along with the Senior Staff and counseling staff welcomed the campers on the porch of the boys’ Lodge and passed along valuable information about life at Susquehannock.
The Boys camp then rounded out the day with a game of Dodgeball, as recent tradition dictates. The girls, after going back down the Hill, were treated to skits by their counselors. The first full day of First Session began with World Games in both Camps, as we try to create balanced Orange and Blue teams.

Our 105th summer at Camp Susquehannock opened with wonderful weather and joyous reunions.
Campers moved into their cabins and were immediately involved in pick-up games and events down at the Lake. After dinner, both Camps gathered on the lawn in front of the Boys’ Lodge for a warm welcome from Directors Win and Cannie Shafer, the Senior Staff and counselors.
The boys and girls then went to their respective camps for further counselor introductions and Staff Heads Tim Kent and Trica Pearson and then were able to do some fun evening activities!
