The Susquehannock Camps offer training and competition in most team and individual sports.
The guiding principle of the sports program at both Susquehannock Camps is that every camper receives instruction in many different sports and that all are given the opportunity to practice those skills in game competition. Team assignments are made primarily in accordance with ability. This gives each boy or girl an opportunity to participate and enhance their self-esteem in an environment where taking risks and making mistakes is an integral part of the learning experience.
Orange and Blue team competition, while robust, is never allowed to overwhelm the primary goals of learning and sportsmanship. Counselors help coach their teams from the fields or courts officials encourage the efforts of both teams. At Susquehannock, deciding the game’s winner is not the point - learning as much as possible from the experience and everyone having a great time doing it is the point. Teams give congratulatory cheers for each other following every contest.
In addition to most team and individual sports, campers can also pursue horseback riding, weight training, martial arts, mountain biking, archery, frisbee golf, nature study, swimming, and a full range of boating activities.
